Suuri tontti vehreän luonnon keskellä ja vanhan puutalon rauha luovat ihastuttavan ympäristön taiteen tekemiselle ja katsomiselle.
The artist house Gjutars (Taiteiljatalo Gjutars) is located in an old, idyllic culture area in Kuninkaala, Vantaa, near Tikkurila’s railway station, at Vanha Kuninkaalantie 6. The old wooden house next to the community house Påkas and the painter museum (Maalarimuseo) has been referred to as Galleria Gjutars, (Gallery Gjutars). The name derives from the farm that was located at the same spot. The householder in the 17th century was a potter. The original house and the farmhouses were, however, destroyed in a fire in 1945, and the current house was built after the fire. The city of Vantaa gave the house for Vantaan Taiteilijaseura’s use in the late 1990s. The large property in the middle of nature offers a peaceful, idyllic atmosphere for creating and enjoying art, but also for organising events. Upstairs of the artist house, there is Vantaan Taiteilijaseura’s residency apartment and a studio. Downstairs, there is a workspace that is rented out to an artist and also an event space for celebrations and exhibitions. The event space can be rented for private occasions and course activities as well as exhibitions. The rentee is responsible for surveillance. The residency on the second floor of the artist house Gjutars is available to both foreign and domestic artists. From its beginning in 2002, the residency has created opportunities for cooperation between artists of different nationalities and enabled artists in Vantaa to work and hold exhibitions in different parts of Europe. Also, the audience in Vantaa has had the opportunity to acquaint themselves with art from various cultures in a local setting.
